Dumfries and Galloway CULTURAL PARTNERSHIP
DG Unlimited is proud to be one of the four founding partners of the Dumfries and Galloway Cultural Partnership. The Cultural Partnership is a collaborative force working to bring together the arts,
heritage: the cultural sector in Dumfries and Galloway to encourage the creation of long-term, positive
change. We act as a connector and amplifier.
The founding partners are:
Dumfries and Galloway Council | DG Unlimited | Museums & Heritage Network | South of Scotland Enterprise
Our involvement in the Cultural Partnership came about as a result of our long-standing partnership and relationship with Dumfries and Galloway Council over the last 14 years. We are delighted the Partnership is moving forward and we are particularly looking forward to continuing to work with DG Council Colleagues, our fellow founding partners, South of Scotland Enterprise, and the Museums and Heritage Network, in partnership for the benefit of the whole cultural sector in our region. We warmly invite you to find out more by downloading the Strategy below and by reading more about the Cultural Partnership via the links below.
Our work for the arts and creative sector in this region, and ongoing partnership with Dumfries and Galloway Council, are extremely important to us and we want to be transparent with you, our valued members and the interested public, to ensure you understand why DG Unlimited were invited to be involved as founding partners in the formation of a Cultural Partnership for our region.
DG Unlimited is acknowledged by as the strategic arts organisation for the region me and we fully meet the requirements, as laid out in the Cultural Partnership Framework, that founder members represented on the Cultural Partnership must:
- Have collective networks, partnership and relationships on which to grow
region and sector-wide support for delivery of the Cultural Strategy. - Have a strategic role in setting the cultural agenda for Dumfries and Galloway.
- Be able to demonstrate a track record in partnership working and can
model this for stakeholders and partners. - Be able to speak with authority for the broad remit of the Cultural Strategy,
quickly establish credibility and influence at a strategic level, and have capacity for strategic decision-making. - Have combined knowledge and expertise to advocate, debate and inform on
issues and concerns critical to the cultural agenda in Dumfries and Galloway
now, and into the future.
We are a partnership, not an entity. The website and various communication channels and plans are currently under development and the founding partners are looking forward to sharing these publicly in due course in the summer/autumn of 2025.
An element of the work Cultural Partnership is to champion the vision of the Dumfries and Galloway Cultural Strategy and to encourage the sector to align their individual projects and work with the strategy so that by 2030 we have all achieved our strategic regional aim of: Dumfries and Galloway’s distinctive creativity, culture and heritage will have an international profile and be renowned for their contribution to the region’s economy and quality of life.
The Cultural Strategy is principally aligned to the priorities and aims of the Cultural Strategy for Scotland, the National Strategy for Economic Transformation, the Climate Change Plan 2018-32 , Scotland Outlook 2030 and Fair Work Action Plan for Scotland.
The Dumfries and Galloway Cultural Strategy outlines three ambitions, and their subsequent objectives, which have been formulated in response to what people highlighted as important to them during Dumfries and Galloway Council’s consultation and engagement phase:
- Ambition 1: Our people
- Ambition 2: Our places
- Ambition 3: The difference we make
