The Dumfries and Galloway Cultural Partnership (DGCP) announces that Katharine Wheeler will be stepping down from her role as Chair following the completion of the Partnership’s first year of establishment and development.
Over the past year, Katharine has played a central role in helping to shape the early
foundations of the DGCP, guiding the Partnership through its formal set-up, launch, and
initial engagement with the region’s cultural sector. Under her guidance, the Partnership
has:
- Established key governance structures, including the Cultural Partnership
Framework, Standing Orders, and Code of Conduct. - Delivered a successful public launch, Culture Calling, attended by almost 100
representatives from across arts and heritage. - Begun building a strong national profile, establishing links with a number of key
organisations throughout Scotland. - Strengthened regional connections, laying the foundations for future collaboration.
The Partnership is now entering a new phase, with founding partners taking a more active
role in shaping direction and delivery. As part of this evolution, Katharine has chosen to step aside to allow the Partnership to move forward with a structure that reflects its emerging priorities.
Statement from Katharine Wheeler
“It has been an honour to serve as the inaugural Chair of the Dumfries and Galloway Cultural Partnership. Helping to establish the Partnership and begin to strengthen its relationships across the region and nationally has been a privilege. As the Partnership evolves and founding members take on a more active and hands-on role in shaping its next phase, this feels like the right moment for a new perspective to guide its development. I remain deeply committed to the values that underpin this work and look forward to championing the Partnership’s ambitions as it continues to grow.”
The Cultural Partnership thanks Katharine for her leadership, dedication, and contribution
during this formative year. Her commitment to sector-led development, partnership
working, and cultural advocacy has helped lay strong foundations for the future.
