About the Commission
DG Unlimited is inviting expressions of interest from illustrators who are members of both DG Unlimited and the DG Unlimited Talent Pool to create a suite of original illustrations for use across our communications and marketing materials.
The commissioned illustrations will be used across presentations, printed resources, digital publications, social media and other promotional materials, helping to create a recognisable visual identity that reflects the creativity, diversity and collaborative spirit of Dumfries and Galloway’s creative sector.
We are looking for illustrations that are friendly, welcoming and accessible, depicting diverse people, creative practice and cultural settings. The successful illustrator will work within DG Unlimited’s existing brand guidelines, with a full creative brief provided at the start of the commission.
As a visual reference, we admire the approachable, character-led style of illustrations used by Creative Dundee. This is intended purely as inspiration for the tone and feel of the work—we are looking for original illustrations that develop DG Unlimited’s own visual identity. (example below)
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an illustrator who:
- Has a strong, distinctive illustration style.
- Can create warm, engaging and accessible artwork.
- Can depict a diverse range of people, creative activities and cultural settings.
- Is able to work within existing brand guidelines.
- Can produce original artwork suitable for both digital and print use.
- Is happy to respond to feedback during the design process.
Deliverables
The successful illustrator will create a small library of original illustrations, including:
- Individual characters representing a diverse range of creatives and communities.
- Creative and cultural settings that can be used across presentations and publications.
- Spot illustrations and graphic elements for use in reports, presentations and online communications.
- Final artwork supplied in editable and high-resolution formats suitable for both print and digital use.
A full brief, including required subjects and brand guidelines, will be provided at the start of the commission.
Fee
The commission fee is £600, inclusive of all design time, revisions and delivery of the final artwork.
