Join us to hear about The Illustrated Freelancer’s Guide, the 5th edition of the popular easy to reference guide for creative freelancers, written by Heather Parry and illustrated by Maria Stoian. Engaging and packed with up-to-date insights and information, it uses a highly visual combination of illustration and text to highlight key issues, model scenarios and educate creative workers on how to protect themselves with regards to payment, copyright and creative work in general.
Heather Parry is a long-standing friend and supporter of DG Unlimited, and we are delighted to welcome her for another Freelancer’s Guide seminar and Q&A.
Tickets are free but booking is essential as places are strictly limited. Refreshments are included. Attendees will receive a copy of the latest edition of the Freelancer’s Guide.

About the Speaker:
Heather Parry is a Glasgow-based writer and editor, originally from South Yorkshire. Her debut novel, Orpheus Builds a Girl, was shortlisted for the Saltire Society Fiction Book of the Year Award and longlisted for the Polari First Book Prize. She is also the author of a short story collection, This Is My Body, Given For You, and her first nonfiction book, Electric Dreams: On Sex Robots and the Failed Promises of Capitalism, was released in 2024 as part of 404 Ink’s Inklings series.
Her most recent novel is, Carrion Crow, to be followed by fiction in 2027.
In 2025, The Skinny named Heather as one of the ‘Next Generation of Scottish Writers’.
Heather writes the substack, general observations on eggs, and lives in Glasgow with her partner and their cats, Ernesto and Fidel.
